There is a permanent perimeter in Granada that restricts traffic entering and circulating in the city. This restriction is known as Granada's ZBE or Low Emission Zone.
Granada's Low Emission Zone will be fully effective on 1 October 2025 for the purposes of applying its system of offences and penalties.
Here is everything you need to know about the various areas of Granada's ZBE:
EAST OF THE CITY: Camino del Sacromonte to the Abbey included in the ZBE. El Caldero Restaurant junction (for access control from the Murcia road and Camino del Fargue, which are within the ZBE), the rest of the city is mainly delimited by the built-up urban perimeter.
ALFACAR ROAD AREA: Coincides with the urban perimeter, with the sports city within the ZBE.
NORTH AREA: Pegaso and Merced Alta streets, not included within the ZBE. Edge of the Casería de los Cipreses estate.
NORTHWEST AREA: Blas de Otero Avenue, Lepanto Street, Racimos Street, El Jau Street and the edge of Cronista Juan Burgos Park
WEST AREA: Edge of Las Alquerias Park, motorway service road (avoid entrances from the Puleva area). Santa María de la Alhambra, which is not within the ZBE, for access to the monument. The grounds of the Patronato de la Alhambra are not included within the ZBE. Access to the cemetery remains unrestricted.
Vehicles with environmental badges (B, C, ECO or 0) are authorised to drive in the ZBE without restrictions, so if you book a parking space within this zone and arrive with a vehicle with a badge, you can park without any worries :)
Vehicles that are not registered in the municipality of Granada and do not have an environmental badge will not be authorised to access the ZBE. Vehicles without an environmental badge are petrol vehicles manufactured before 2001 and diesel vehicles manufactured before 2006.
