Something similar to what happens in Madrid, although somewhat less restrictive, in Barcelona there is a permanent perimeter that limits the traffic that accesses and circulates through Barcelona. This restriction is known as Barcelona ZBE or Low Emission Zone.
Since 1 January 2020, Barcelona's ZBE prohibits access to the most polluting vehicles, i.e. vehicles that do not have any of the environmental badges awarded by the DGT, in an area of 95 kilometres in the city of Barcelona, l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Sant Adrià del Besòs, part of Esplugues de Llobregat and Cornellà de Llobregat. It is possible to drive along the Ronda de Dalt and Ronda del Litoral ring roads, but vehicles without a sticker will not be allowed to use the access roads to the city.

This low emission zone is only active on working days, i.e. from Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 8 pm. Outside these hours, the restrictions are deactivated and any vehicle can access and circulate in this zone without penalties. The only detail to add is that, during public holidays, the ZBE is only active in the city of Barcelona during the same hours.

Furthermore, from 1 January 2025, after the adaptation period to Low Emission Zones, penalties for non-compliance will also begin to be applied in the municipalities of the Delta (Gavà, Viladecans, Sant Boi de Llobregat, El Prat de Llobregat). The penalties will also affect the municipalities of Cerdanyola del Vallès, Barberà del Vallès, Badalona, Sant Joan Despí and Sant Cugat del Vallès.
This means that, from that date onwards, vehicles that do not have the DGT environmental badge (0, ECO, B and C) will not be allowed to enter the city centre from Monday to Friday, between 7am and 8pm. Outside these hours, all vehicles will be able to circulate without restrictions.
If you are visiting Barcelona with your car and you need a car park, with Parclick there are no excuses! As a general rule, vehicles with an environmental sticker are allowed to circulate within the ZBE without restrictions, so if you book a parking space within this zone and you come with a vehicle with a sticker, you will be able to park with peace of mind :)
Vehicles that do not have a sticker (category A vehicles: petrol vehicles registered before 2000 or diesel vehicles registered before 2006) must apply for authorisation and pay a fee.
