Have you planned to travel to Turin with your car and want to know everything about the traffic in this city? No problem! At Parclick, we explain everything so that you can enjoy your parking stay in the ZTL of Turin with the utmost comfort.
As in other Italian cities, in Turin, there are what are known as ZTL zones (i.e. limited traffic zones) where there are certain restrictions on access and circulation during certain hours of the day for certain types of vehicles. During the hours of the ZTL, only vehicles of category Euro 3 or higher (i.e. only vehicles manufactured from 2000 onwards), or those powered by gas, methane, LPG, single-fuel electric motor or biofuel will be allowed to enter. In addition to this, these vehicles will have to pay a municipal fee to obtain a driving licence, the amount of which may vary depending on the category of each vehicle.
Here is a map with an overview of the ZTL zones in Turin:
The main ZTL in Turin includes the city centre area, hence the name ZTL Centrale. Activation hours here will take place on weekdays (except Saturdays) from 7:30 to 10:30.
As you can see on the map, within this central area there are other ZTLs with different access protocols and timetables than those indicated above:
- ZTL Area Romana: every day of the year (including public holidays) from 9:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. the following day, the transit and parking of any vehicle on its streets is forbidden. In Piazza Emanuele Filiberto, moreover, this prohibition is in force from 7.30 p.m. to 7.30 a.m. the following day.
- Pedestrian ZTL: closed to traffic and parking 24 hours a day, every day of the year (including public holidays).
- Valentino ZTL: which includes the interior of the park of the same name, will also be closed to traffic and parking 24 hours a day, every day of the year (including public holidays).
- Roads and lanes reserved for public transport: these areas are closed to traffic and parking from 7:00 to 20:00 every day of the year (including public holidays).
The procedure and payment of the municipal tax for access to the ZTL Centrale can be done directly in some car parks: if you go to the Emanuele Filiberto, Castello, Carlo Alberto, Santo Stefano, Bodoni or Valdo Fusi car parks, all you have to do is give the car park staff the number plate of your vehicle to register your access. This procedure is not necessary for the other car parks in the centre, as the entrance to the car park is outside the ZTL Centrale zone.
